European Ring Size Guide: find your size by country
Ordering a ring online from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, or Sweden always raises the same question: what size to choose? Ring sizing systems truly vary from country to country — and a sizing error on a solid 925 sterling silver ring is a concrete problem that spoils the shopping experience.
This guide answers a simple question: how to find your ring size, no matter where you are in Europe?
The three systems used in Europe
In Europe, three systems coexist depending on the country:
The European system (EU / ISO) is the most common. It measures the inner circumference of the ring in millimeters. A ring size 52 therefore has an inner circumference of 52 mm, or approximately 16.5 mm in diameter. This system is used in France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Poland, and most Central and Eastern European countries.
The German system (DE) is identical to the European ISO system — it measures the inner diameter in millimeters. A German ring size 17 corresponds to an inner diameter of 17 mm, which is a circumference of approximately 53.4 mm (EU size 53). Germany, Austria, and Switzerland use this system.
The British system (UK) uses letters of the alphabet. Size L corresponds to a circumference of approximately 49.3 mm, size N to 52.5 mm, and size P to 55.8 mm. This system is used in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

How to measure your ring size without tools
The most reliable method without professional measuring tools is the paper method. Cut a strip of paper about 1 cm wide and 10 cm long. Wrap it around the finger where you usually wear your rings — typically just above the knuckle. Mark the point where the strip overlaps, then measure the length in millimeters. This length is your circumference, which directly corresponds to your EU size.
A few important precautions: measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly swollen from heat and activity. Measure at normal room temperature — cold shrinks fingers by 1 to 2 sizes. If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger size for a wide ring, the smaller size for a thin ring.
The most common sizes by country
Average sizes vary slightly across European countries, due to morphological differences and cultural conventions on the finger worn.
In France, Belgium, and Spain, the best-selling sizes for women are between 50 and 56, with a peak at 52-54. For men, between 60 and 66, with a peak at 62-64.
In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the most common women's sizes are 16-17 (i.e., 50-54 EU), men's sizes 19-21 (i.e., 60-66 EU).
In the Netherlands and Scandinavia, the average morphology is slightly larger: the most common women's sizes are rather between 54 and 58 EU, men's sizes between 62 and 68 EU.
In Poland and the Baltic countries, the conventions are identical to the standard EU system, with average sizes similar to France.
Ordering a 925 sterling silver ring from Europe
All our solid 925 sterling silver rings are available in standard EU sizes, from 47 to 68. If you are ordering from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, simply convert your DE size to EU size by multiplying by π (3.14159): a DE size 17 corresponds to 17 × 3.14159 = 53.4 mm, which is EU size 53.
If you are ordering from the United Kingdom or Ireland, use the conversion chart above to find your EU equivalent. If in doubt, our customer service is available to help you choose the right size before placing your order.
